Hey there! I’m Krystal, the writer behind Frog's Blog. πŸΈπŸ’›

And I have a dream to one day have my very own fiction novel published.

But I'm getting ahead of myself.

About Me

My Story So Far

As I said, my name is Krystal - or Frog, according to my Steam profile and any nameable character in my games. I live in sunny Queensland, Australia with my partner and my adorable dog, Eevee.

I love tea - plain and basic please like me - walking outside for the daily dose of vitamin D, crochet, video games in long intense bursts, reading, and typing on a very clickety-clack keyboard.

As a child I loved devouring stories, and read as many as my little chubby hands could get a hold of. As a teen I decided to try and write a couple of stories of my own. I began a very ambitious love story after reading 'Vampire Academy' despite the fact I had zero love life experience at that point. Needless to say that story didn't get very far. Then after entering the classic 'horse girl' stage and being sucked in by 'The Silver Brumby', I decided I would write my very own wild horse adventure, which didn't survive the first chapter.

Cue hitting Year 10 in high school, enter stage right - short stories. I got on a roll writing these - which I could possibly be persuaded to share a few on this blog if demanded - and enjoyed converting all of my school assignments into writing a short story. Sadly this couldn't last however, as I graduated school and decided that getting that bread was a more pressing venture and very solidly put my writing on the wayside, not to be touched for many a year.

Until now. I have had two characters rattling around inside my head for years now and it is finally time to get rid of them, by writing a worthy story for them to leave me alone.

This story idea is still a WIP, but I would expect a post talking about that to come out very soon. I'll link it here once it does.

To achieve my dream, I need to write a good story. An engaging story. How does one go about doing that?

Practice I would imagine! So think of this blog as writing practice, an outlet for me to write semi-regularly and hone my storytelling voice and skills. Just to be sure I am getting some actual helpful experience, I am also taking a novel writing course through Reedsy, taught by author Tom Bromley. I am in very early stages, but if you would like some input about this course just let me know.

So in conclusion! I want to write an awesome, amazing, epic story and get it published to pick up off a shelf at a bookstore. To do this, I am writing this blog, I am taking a novel writing course, and am working slowly on manifesting an impeccable book idea, and sharing what I can with you along the way.

Okay, so what is this blog actually about?

What Can You Expect?

Good Question.

I'll post my writing journey here, from intangible idea to physical book hopefully, and keep you updated along the way. I would also love to hear from you about whatever project you're working on in the moment!

I'll also post some helpful writing information that I've accrued over the years through my scouring of the usual hell-sites, as well as writing prompts and story ideas to get our brain-juices flowing together.

It is helpful with improving your writing skill by reading regularly, so we'll have a monthly reads review where we can chat together about current reads and future ones.

And for a bit of variety we'll have a miscellaneous category, where I'll post about non-writing things, like interesting goings-on in my life, crochet patterns, notion templates, cozy game reviews/sales and so on.

I'll post once a week on Fridays at 6:00pm - Queensland time.

That's it! I'll see you on Friday, and in the meantime if you would like to reach out, please see my about page for contact information.

✍️ Hop to it and keep writing! 🐸
